This is a real privacy page written in real words. No dark patterns, no fifty paragraphs designed to make you give up. Here is exactly what we collect, what we do with it, and how to make it go away.
We collect only what you choose to send us, we do not sell or trade it, and we do not run trackers that follow you around the web. If you ever want your information gone, email us and we remove it. That is the whole spirit of this page. The rest is detail.
When you fill out the start form, your email app sends us the details you typed: your organization, your mission, your email, and whatever else you add. We get that message the same way we would get any email from you. Nothing on this site quietly harvests data in the background.
If you email us directly, we keep that conversation so we can help you. That is it.
We may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to understand which pages people find useful. If we do, it counts visits without building a profile of you, without third-party advertising cookies, and without selling anything to anyone. We do not use Google Analytics-style tracking or ad networks.
We do not sell your data. We do not rent it. We do not hand it to advertisers or data brokers. We do not use it to train models that belong to anyone else. Your information exists so we can build your site and talk to you, and for nothing else.
To run CommonStack we use a small number of trusted providers: a web host, an email service, and, for partner sites, a donation platform you choose. Each of these sees only what it needs to do its job, and each is a company with its own privacy practices. We pick providers who take this as seriously as we do.
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it entirely. We will do it, and we will not make you jump through hoops or sit through a retention pitch. One email is enough.
If we ever change how we handle data, we will update this page and change the date below. We will not bury a change that matters in legalese. If it affects you, we will say so in plain words.
Questions about any of this, or a request to see or delete your data, go to hello@commonstack.org. A person answers, usually within a few days.
